Australia’s medtech sector convenes in Perth for AusMedtech 2026

Tuesday, 19 May 2026

AusMedtech 2026 kicks off today at Crown Towers in Perth, Western Australia, bringing together leaders from across the medical technology sector between 19 to 21 May 2026. This year marks the biggest ever delegation with more than 500 attendees convening in Perth.

AusMedtech, Australia’s leading medical technology conference, brings together international and domestic industry leaders for three days of sector-shaping collaboration and conversation, attracting hundreds of delegates from industry, government, investment, and academia to explore the key issues shaping the future of medtech.

This year's conference is focused on advancing innovation, translation, and commercialisation across the medtech ecosystem at a time of rapid global change and growing healthcare demands.

Australia’s medtech sector continues to be a critical driver of growth within the nation’s life sciences ecosystem. With more than 900 companies, the sector plays a significant role in strengthening Australia’s innovation pipeline, economy, and global reputation.

For the first time, AusMedtech 2026 will feature the WA Government’s Startup Alley, a dedicated space for early-stage medtech and digital health companies to showcase their innovations and connect with investors, clinicians, and industry leaders from across Australia and around the world.

Comments from AusBiotech CEO Rebekah Cassidy:

“AusMedtech convenes the industry to drive critical conversations on the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of Australia’s innovative medtech sector, from development and manufacturing through to regulation and procurement.

“This event brings the sector together in a powerful way. Our program fosters meaningful dialogue across the ecosystem, at a time when collaboration has never been more important. As global dynamics continue to shift, from supply chain pressures to increasing healthcare needs, it is essential that Australia’s medtech sector remains connected, resilient, and future-focused.

“Medtech is central to advancing healthcare outcomes, strengthening health security, and supporting economic growth across Australia."

Comments from the Hon. Stephen Dawson, Minister for Medical Research:

“Hosting AusMedtech in Perth is a strong vote of confidence in Western Australia’s growing medtech capability.

“This event puts a spotlight on our researchers, innovators and companies, and connects them with global partners and investors. Through initiatives like the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund and targeted support for infrastructure, commercialisation and clinical trials, we are building a stronger, more competitive medtech sector in WA.”

AusMedtech is one of AusBiotech’s flagship conferences, preceded by AusBiotech Invest Perth held Tuesday, 19 May, and followed by 'Australia’s biggest week in biotech' in October.

AusBiotech thanks our Host State Partners — the Government of Western Australia and Business Events Perth — as well as our sponsors for supporting this flagship event.
